All questions
What is Julius Answer?
Julius Answer is an AI receptionist for US small businesses, made by DealsFlow. It answers your business calls 24/7, books appointments, takes messages, puts callers through to your team, and emails you a summary of every call.
Is Julius Answer related to Julius AI?
No. Julius AI (julius.ai) is an unrelated data-analysis product. Julius Answer is DealsFlow's AI receptionist.
How does an AI receptionist work?
Calls to your number reach the AI receptionist, which listens, understands what the caller wants and replies in a natural voice. It uses your business information to answer, your calendar to book, and your team list to transfer, then writes up the call for you.
Does it sound like a robot?
No. It speaks natural, conversational American English in short sentences and waits for the caller to finish. It also says up front that it's an AI assistant, so nobody feels misled.
Will it tell callers it's an AI?
Yes. It says it is an AI assistant in its greeting and never claims to be human, and it mentions that the call is recorded.
What languages does it speak?
English by default, and it replies in Spanish or another language when the caller speaks it. You can add a greeting that offers Spanish up front.
How much does it cost?
$79, $199 or $399 a month for 300, 1,000 or 3,000 call minutes, with every feature on every plan and a 7-day free trial. Extra minutes start at $25 and never expire. See pricing.
How does the free trial work?
Every plan starts with a 7-day free trial that includes up to 150 call minutes, whichever plan you pick. The trial starts when you add a card in the console, and nothing is charged until it ends. Cancel in the console before then and you pay nothing.
How are minutes counted?
By time on the phone with callers, in whole minutes rounded up per call. Included minutes reset monthly; extra minutes you buy never expire.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. Cancel in the console in a couple of clicks. Calls are answered until the end of the period you paid for, and you can change your mind before then.
Do I get a phone number?
Yes. Every plan includes a local US number in the area code you pick, set up automatically after you subscribe.
Can I keep my existing number?
Yes. Forward your business number to Julius Answer, all calls or only the ones you don't pick up. See how to forward calls for Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile and landlines.
Can it book appointments into my calendar?
Yes. It offers open times, books the caller's choice as a request and you confirm with one tap. Connect Google Calendar so it never offers a busy time and confirmed visits appear there; a calendar link works with Apple Calendar and Outlook.
Can it transfer calls to me or my staff?
Yes. Tell it who handles what, and it puts callers through. If nobody picks up, it takes a message.
What if a caller asks something it doesn't know?
It says so honestly, takes a message, and saves the question for you. Answer it once and it knows it next time. It never invents prices, hours or policies.
Can it answer more than one call at a time?
Yes, depending on your plan: 1 call at a time on Starter, 3 on Pro and 10 on Business.
Does it work at night and on weekends?
Yes, 24/7, including holidays. You can set holiday hours, special days, an away mode and a short notice it gives callers.
Can it send text messages?
Yes, once your business is registered with the US carriers, which you do in the console (carrier review can take days or a few weeks). Texts come from your Julius Answer number and go only to callers who agreed to them, plus one text after a missed call. Replies land in the caller's record. Until texting is on, follow-ups go by email to callers who gave one. See texting and follow-ups.
Does it follow up with callers after the call?
Yes. A missed-call message and appointment reminders are on from the start; you can add a note after each call, a "still need help?" message for callers who didn't book, and a review request after a visit. Each goes by text or email, with wording you can change, and is checked again before it goes out, so a cancelled booking gets no reminder.
Which tools does it connect to?
Google Calendar, a calendar link for Apple and Outlook, Slack, Zapier, Make and webhooks to any app. A CRM is built in. Native connections to other CRMs are not available yet; Zapier, Make or webhooks can connect them.
Is it HIPAA compliant?
Julius Answer doesn't sign HIPAA Business Associate Agreements today. Clinics keep visit reasons and caller details out of emails by default, but practices that need a BAA should talk to us before using it for patient calls.
Is my data secure?
Each business's data is kept separate in the database, card payments are handled by Stripe, and you can export everything at any time. See security.
Do I need to install anything?
No. Everything runs in the console in your browser, on a computer or phone. Setup is done by typing or talking to the assistant.
How long does setup take?
About ten minutes: sign up, describe your business to the assistant, and forward your line.
What happens to spam and sales calls?
Julius Answer handles them politely without bothering your team, and notes vendors as low priority. You can block numbers in the console.
Can it call people back?
No. Julius Answer answers incoming calls and doesn't place outbound calls, sales or otherwise. When a caller asks for a call back, it saves the call-back with a real time, such as "before 3 p.m. today", on your team's list and alerts you when it comes due.
Can it handle emergencies?
In a life-threatening emergency it tells the caller to hang up and call 911. Urgent business problems are flagged urgent and can be put through to whoever is on call.
