Connect Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and other AI apps
One address works for every workspace: https://app.julius.dealsflow.ai/api/mcp. Add it to your AI app, sign in, choose what the app may do, then ask in your own words.
To connect an AI app to your Julius Answer receptionist, add https://app.julius.dealsflow.ai/api/mcp to the app as a custom connector (a remote MCP server). The app sends you to the Julius Answer sign-in screen, where you pick the workspace and what the app may do. Menu names in AI apps change from time to time; look for "connectors" or "custom MCP server".
Claude (web and desktop)
- Open Customize, then Connectors (older versions put this under Settings).
- Choose Add custom connector, name it Julius Answer and paste
https://app.julius.dealsflow.ai/api/mcp. - Press Connect and sign in on the Julius Answer screen.
On Claude Team and Enterprise plans, an owner adds the connector once under Organization settings, Connectors; each person then presses Connect and signs in as themselves. Free Claude accounts can add one custom connector.
ChatGPT
- Open Plugins, select the + button, then Add custom MCP server. (Earlier versions: Settings, Apps & Connectors, with developer mode turned on.)
- Paste
https://app.julius.dealsflow.ai/api/mcpand choose OAuth. - Sign in on the Julius Answer screen.
OpenAI offers custom MCP servers with actions on ChatGPT Business, Enterprise and Edu, where an admin may need to allow them; Pro can connect with read permissions only. Check your plan in OpenAI's help center.
Claude Code
claude mcp add --transport http julius-answer https://app.julius.dealsflow.ai/api/mcp
Then run /mcp in Claude Code and sign in. With an API key instead:
claude mcp add --transport http julius-answer https://app.julius.dealsflow.ai/api/mcp \
--header "Authorization: Bearer jak_your_key"
Cursor, VS Code and other MCP clients
Add a remote (Streamable HTTP) server. In Cursor, ~/.cursor/mcp.json or the project's .cursor/mcp.json:
{
"mcpServers": {
"julius-answer": { "url": "https://app.julius.dealsflow.ai/api/mcp" }
}
}
In VS Code, .vscode/mcp.json:
{
"servers": {
"julius-answer": { "type": "http", "url": "https://app.julius.dealsflow.ai/api/mcp" }
}
}
Clients that support OAuth open the sign-in screen by themselves. Otherwise add a header with an API key: "headers": { "Authorization": "Bearer jak_your_key" }. Keep keys out of shared repositories.
The sign-in screen
- Who's asking: the app's name and the address it will return to, so you can tell a real app from a look-alike.
- Workspace: if you're in more than one, pick the business this connection is for.
- Access: read only, read and day-to-day work, or full access. The screen starts on the lowest level, and only owners and admins can give full access.
- Allow or Don't allow. Nothing is shared until you press Allow.
The connection then appears in the console under Settings, API & AI apps, Connected apps, with when it was last used and a Disconnect button.
What to ask
- "Who called today, and who still needs a call back?"
- "What did the caller from 312-555-0142 say about the water heater?"
- "Confirm Maria's booking for Saturday at 11."
- "We're closed Monday for the holiday, and Friday hours are 8 to 2."
- "Teach the receptionist that we don't service tankless heaters."
- "Summarize this week's calls: what did people ask about most, and who didn't book?"
Apps that support MCP prompts also offer the server's ready-made ones: a morning briefing, who needs a call back, a weekly review, teaching an answer and holiday hours.
Steps that wait for your Yes
An AI app reads what callers said, and a caller could try to slip instructions into a message. So these steps never happen from the app alone: sending call emails or events to a new address, putting calls through to a new number, taking a phone number, disconnecting something, adding links callers will hear and changing your CRM. The app gets a "waiting for approval" answer, and the step waits in the console's assistant with a Yes button and the app's name on it.
Troubleshooting
| What you see | What to do |
|---|---|
| The app can't find the server or says unauthorized | Check the address ends in /api/mcp, with no trailing words. Remove the connector and add it again to sign in fresh. |
| "needs more access than this connection has" | Disconnect the app in the console, connect again and choose a higher access level (owners and admins only for full access). |
| The app answers about the wrong business | Each connection is one workspace. Connect again and pick the right one on the sign-in screen. |
| Too many requests | Each connection can make 120 requests a minute. Ask for less at once, or wait a minute. |
| It stopped working after a password reset | A password reset ends every key and app connection of that person. Connect the app again. |
Disconnect an app
In the console, open Settings, API & AI apps and press Disconnect next to the app. It stops working at once. Then remove the connector in the AI app so it stops asking you to sign in.
Frequently asked questions
Which access level should I give an AI app?
Start with read only. Give day-to-day work if you want it to confirm bookings or tick off messages, and full access only if you want it to change hours, answers and other setup. You can disconnect and connect again with a different level at any time.
Can I connect more than one workspace?
Each connection works in the one workspace you pick on the sign-in screen. Add the connector again (with a different name) for another workspace. Agencies that manage many businesses use a partner key instead.
Why does the app say a step is waiting for my approval?
Steps that send calls or call details somewhere new, take a phone number, disconnect something, add links callers will hear or change your CRM wait for your own Yes in the console's assistant. Open the console and press Yes, or ignore it and nothing happens.
Can I use an API key instead of signing in?
Yes, for apps that let you add headers (Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code and your own agents): send Authorization: Bearer with a key made in the console. Apps like Claude and ChatGPT on the web use the sign-in screen.
